About Our Kits
Our kits address the most common prohibited features on AR platform rifles. Featureless kits cover the pistol grip, collapsible stock, and flash suppressor. Maglock systems fix your magazine so you can keep all standard features. When installed correctly on an otherwise compliant rifle your build will be legal under California law.

However, California firearms laws are complex and change frequently. You are responsible for ensuring your complete build complies with current law. We strongly recommend reviewing the California DOJ Bureau of Firearms guidance and consulting a California firearms attorney if you have specific questions.
A featureless rifle is a semi-automatic centerfire rifle that does not have any of the following prohibited features - a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action, a thumbhole stock, a folding or telescoping stock, a grenade or flare launcher, a flash suppressor, or a forward pistol grip.

By removing these features your rifle can use a standard detachable magazine with a normal magazine release legally in California. Faster reloads, no opening the action. Read our CA Compliance Guide for the full breakdown.
A maglock replaces your rear takedown pin and bolt catch with modified parts that lock your magazine in place while your receivers are closed. To change magazines you press the takedown pin button which slightly separates your upper and lower receivers - at which point your magazine release becomes functional. Close the receivers and the lock re-engages automatically.

With a maglock installed your rifle keeps all its standard features including pistol grip, collapsible stock, and flash hider. The tradeoff is slower magazine changes and a 10 round magazine limit.
It comes down to personal preference and how you use your rifle.

Choose featureless if: you want to keep your standard magazine release and run detachable magazines normally. You'll need to change your grip, fix your stock, and swap your flash hider - but reloads are normal speed.

Choose maglock if: you want to keep all your standard features - pistol grip, collapsible stock, flash hider. Magazine changes require opening the action and you're limited to 10 round magazines.

Both are equally California compliant and both work well. Here's the practical difference:

Juggernaut Hellfighter - spring loaded quick release button, simple two part install, works on any mil-spec AR-15 or DPMS pattern AR-10.

ARMaglock Gen 4 - adjustable set screw fits virtually any receiver width including billet, composite, and 80% non mil-spec receivers. Retains your original bolt catch for normal bolt hold open on last round.

If you have a standard factory mil-spec rifle either works. If you have a custom or non-standard lower the ARMaglock Gen 4 is the safer choice.
Yes - neither system requires permanent modification to your rifle. You can swap back and forth between configurations.

Important: your rifle must be fully compliant in whatever configuration it is in when you shoot it. You cannot have a maglock installed and also have prohibited features like a pistol grip. The compliance path must be complete and consistent.
Fixed magazine options for AR-9 9mm lowers are extremely limited due to the lack of standardization across AR-9 lower manufacturers. Featureless is the recommended and most reliable compliance path for AR-9 platform rifles in California. We currently only offer featureless kits for the AR-9 platform.
California law limits fixed magazine rifles to 10 round magazines. Do not use standard capacity magazines with a maglock system installed. Your rifle must use 10 round magazines only while the maglock is engaged.
No. Every featureless kit includes a 3/16 inch hex key for grip installation and a crush washer for muzzle brake timing. A basic understanding of your rifle's components is helpful. We also include a printed installation and compliance guide with every order. Most installs take 30 minutes or less. Maglock systems require no special tools beyond what is included.
We currently offer kits for AR-15, AR-10 (.308), and AR-9 (9mm) platform rifles.

AR-15 and AR-9 kits use 1/2x28 threaded barrels. AR-10 kits use 5/8x24 threaded barrels. .300 Blackout and 7.62x39 AR-15 builds use 5/8x24 - select the large bore thread pitch option at checkout.

Maglock systems are available for AR-15 and AR-10 platforms only. Make sure you order the correct kit for your platform.
No. Our kits do not require permanent modification. The stock stop is a push fit, the grip swaps with one screw, and the muzzle brake threads on normally. Maglock systems are also fully reversible. If you ever move out of California or laws change you can swap back to standard parts easily.
Yes. The grips in our kits - Strike Industries SFG, Sparrow Dynamics CRG-15, and Juggernaut Tactical featureless grip - are specifically designed so they do not meet California's legal definition of a pistol grip.

The Sparrow CRG-15 has a formal legal opinion from Michel & Associates - one of California's most recognized firearms law firms - confirming it is not a pistol grip under California Penal Code Section 30515. All three grips are legally compliant.
